Hercules - A Hero's Tale is the story of a boy who battles monsters -- after he does his chores --all the while dreaming of finding his true destiny. The cast will perform shadow dancing inspired by Pilobolus Contemporary Dance Company. Showcasing original jazzy, scat-filled music, this show will inspire you to follow your dreams while staying true to yourself along the way!
Hercules: A Hero’s Tale, the original script CYT-North Idaho is producing this spring, is the story of a boy gifted with unbelievable physical strength. When we first meet him, his strength has only caused him to be treated as an outcast. He has always felt he was destined to become a hero; another reason he felt like an outsider amongst his peers. We accompany Hercules on a journey to find his true destiny.
His journey brings him to Athens, where he meets his real father, Zeus who gave him the “gift” of incredible strength. That he might become the legend he’s destined to be, Zeus left 12 monsters on earth for Hercules to find and defeat. As he travels the earth seeking the monsters he must conquer, he hones his skills and learns when and how to use his strength for good. He makes new friends and learns the power of love; while it can’t be understood or measured, it can change the world. With each victory, he gains wisdom and understands the value of helping others. Hercules ultimately learns about sacrifice, the giving up of one’s dreams for the life of another. This tale of Hercules has a redemptive message at its core. It’s wrapped with humor, song, dance, adventure and good conquering evil.
