SOLE Seasonal Experiences - Wilderness Medicine Education mini-course
For this novel and intentional program offering, Selkirk Outdoor Leadership & Education (SOLE) partners with the Wilderness Medicine Institute (WMI) of NOLS the leader in wilderness medicine to offer this dynamic and innovative course for people ages 8 and older who are outdoor enthusiasts, educators, scouts and scout leaders, and youth program leaders and participants.
Course Outline for the 16 to 20-hour Wilderness First Aid course includes many advanced topics. Topics for this mini-course may include the following. All of these topics are covered in SOLE's complete course:
- Patient Assessment System
- Evacuation Plans and Emergency Procedures
- Spinal Cord Injuries
- CPR (on some courses)
- Head Injuries
- Wilderness Wound Management
- Athletic Injuries
- Fracture Management
- Cold Injuries
- Heat Illness
- Altitude Illness
- The Medical Patient
- Wilderness First Aid Kits
Tour minimum: 8 people
Tour maximum: 20 people
Cost: $12 per person, payable to Exploring Families.
Payment is required in advance via Paypal, credit card, debit card, check, or cash. Details about the payment options are on the Registration page (when you click on the "Register" button below.) There is no "Pay at the Door." Your spots with our group are saved when payment is received. Payment is due by July 30. If payment is not received by July 30, your reservation will be cancelled. You can receive a full refund if you cancel prior to July 30.
Cancellation: Please contact us as soon as you can if you have to cancel. There is usually a waiting list of families wanting to participate. Or we may have to cancel the activity if we cannot meet the minimum number of required students.
How to Register: For two adults and 3 kids, one adult would register herself under the "Adult Attendee Info" section. Then under "People ages 8+" at the bottom of the form, select "4."

Release of Liability: Before you attend this activity, please print and sign the SOLE Release of Liability. Please complete one waiver per person. Bring the completed waiver with you to the course.
Part of this course will be indoors and part outdoors. This course will not be canceled for any weather reasons.
