Come ready for active fun, learning, and games! The West Valley Outdoor Learning Center is a teaching and learning facility for students and teachers in grades Pre K-College. Our site includes several teaching stations that give students opportunities to learn about the varied ecosystems of Eastern Washington. Students spend their time learning about topics such as plants, wildlife, geology, water ecology, and conservation just to name a few! Our campus features two classroom buildings with many things to see and interact with, live and taxidermied animal displays, several ponds and streams, and many native plant species. Be sure to visit our tortoises, boa constrictor, turtles, geckos, bearded dragon, falcon, Madagascar hissing cockroaches, guinea pigs, and African cichlids. We also have a raptor sanctuary with eight educational birds including a pair of great horned owls.
Ages: Each class is designed for students in grades K-5 or 6-10. All ages are welcome, as long as they can obey the rules and not distract the educators, animals, or other attendees. As with all our activities, you can choose which group your kids go into. You know your kids best and what is the best fit when you want to keep them together. Sign them up for whichever age group you choose.
Cost: $8 per child in grades K-12. Free for adults. Free for younger kids.
Tour limits: 30 kids each class
Note: Adults have to attend this activity. There is no drop off for this activity (or any Exploring Families activity) per the Exploring Families Rules. We have to count bodies (students and adults) for this event since there is limited space. Please always register all the people who will attend an activity, both adults and students.
Payment is required in advance via Paypal, credit card, debit card, check, or cash. There is no "Pay at the Door." Your spots with our group are saved when payment is received. Payment is due one week before the activity. If payment is not received by then, your reservation will be cancelled.
Cancellation Policy: You can have a full refund if you contact Exploring Families at least one week before the event. There is no refund if you cancel with less than one week before the event.
